The Electric Woman follows the story of a woman who joins the circus. The way the writer conveys her experiences in carnival life really gives you an insight into what it’s like behind the scenes. Definitely a must-read.
4. Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi
If you want a different kind of fantasy story, try Children of Blood and Bone. The setting is in West Africa with characters steeped in the Western African culture. It has a lot of action and a lot of drama in the story. Something that you’ll definitely enjoy.
5. The Immortalists by Chloe Benjamin
Last on the list is The Immortalists by Chloe Benjamin. It is a story about four siblings who are somehow influenced by a fortuneteller’s prediction of their deaths. There is a lot of talk in this book about death, fate, life, and many other ambiguous concepts that would make you question what this life really is about.
